List devices and plugs completely

List the devices that need power at the desk. Include bulky adapters occupying more space than an ordinary plug. Check power information and the strip's permitted load using its marking and instructions. The number of free sockets does not establish the total load that may be connected.

Brennenstuhl explicitly advises against connecting power strips one after another. If outlets are insufficient, plan a suitable complete arrangement instead of plugging another strip into the first. Changes to fixed electrical installations require the appropriate qualified person. Furniture placement should not depend on an improvised chain of connections.

Keep the location accessible

Choose somewhere switches and plugs remain reachable. A strip behind a fully loaded cabinet is difficult to inspect during ordinary use. On the floor, it may conflict with dust, chair wheels or stored bags. Use only mounting methods permitted by the manufacturer if it will be attached to furniture.

Observe the product's intended conditions and do not cover the strip or adapters with papers or textiles. Avoid placing drinks directly above connections. Route the lead to the wall socket without creating a snag in the passage. Determine length from the real cable path rather than a straight line across the room.

Check identification after setup

Do not switch shared equipment off at random to guess which plug belongs to it. Coordinate a check with affected users and use the available device information. Clear identification afterwards can prevent disconnecting another working device when you only intend to remove a charger. Keep labels readable without hiding required product markings.

Check moving workstations

With an adjustable desk, establish which parts move and which remain fixed. Check the wall connection throughout the height range you use. Cables must neither become taut nor enter moving parts or chair wheels. Follow the desk and strip instructions together.

Identify power adapters so an individual device can be disconnected deliberately. After rearranging, inspect visible leads and connections again. Damage or unusual behaviour is a reason to stop use and obtain appropriate assessment. Repairing electrical components is not part of improvised desk organisation. Keep the final arrangement understandable to anyone who legitimately needs to use or disconnect the equipment.
