Identify the smallest complete working set
Walk through an ordinary day at the second location. Which tasks need the laptop alone, and which also require a mouse, headset or particular adapter? Pack for those tasks rather than for every object currently on the first desk. Rarely used accessories can be treated as deliberate additions for specific days.
Establish what is reliably available at the destination. A second compatible charger may avoid daily unplugging, while an occasional specialist device may be better carried between sites. Consider other users of the workspace. An adapter is not dependable fixed equipment if it is frequently borrowed for another room.
Separate the device from hard accessories
Use a compartment that fits the laptop and keep loose hard objects apart from it. Plugs, keys and power supplies should not press against the screen or case. Check the bag when fully packed: even a suitable laptop compartment can be compressed by an overfilled neighbouring section.
Coil leads loosely in line with the manufacturer's guidance. Avoid sharp bends next to connectors and packing the computer with adapters still attached. A small accessory compartment makes the set easier to inspect while unpacking. Another pouch is worthwhile when it simplifies access, not when every move requires opening several additional layers.
Use a consistent departure routine
Before packing, check that work is saved and that the device is in the intended state for transport. Follow the equipment instructions and your organisation's requirements. Disconnect using the intended grips rather than pulling on cables. At a shared desk, glance beneath the monitor and beside the power socket, where small adapters are easily left behind.
Unpack the same set in a consistent order at the destination. If something is repeatedly missing, change the packing list or the fixed equipment at that location. Do not automatically add more spare parts to the bag. The aim is a complete, understandable set that can move between workspaces without a daily search.
